Using magnesium for period cramps is something I wish I did before.
Period pain is common and dreaded every month by many women. What we aren’t told though, is that many simple things can help.

Eat your magnesium
The good news is, magnesium can be found in delicious foods :
- dark chocolate,
- nuts (almonds and cashew)
- pumpkin seeds
- spinach
- black beans
- avocado
This is the perfect excuse to go and make yourself guacamole or healthy chocolate mousse.
For optimal absorption, it’s recommended to associate it with vitamin B6 (in chickpeas, sweet potatoes, bananas, tuna, or chicken).
How to choose your magnesium supplement
Some days, getting your magnesium through your diet isn’t enough. That’s why supplements are here to save us!
But, keep in mind that it’s always best to talk to your doctor before taking any supplement.
Magnesium glycinate is the most recommended one because it’s easier to digest.
Also, know that supplements don’t act as painkillers. If you take magnesium for period cramps, make sure you take your capsules daily.
